The retail price of regular gasoline this week was 171.1 yen per liter on average nationwide, down 1.7 yen from the week of the 25th of last month before the big holidays when the previous survey was conducted.
The price has dropped for 4 consecutive weeks.
The reason is that the government has expanded subsidies to oil wholesale companies, but it exceeds the standard price of 168 yen per liter.
