Toyota Motor will suspend operations at some factories in Japan for up to 6 days this month due to the continued restrictions on going out in Shanghai, China due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection and the delay in parts procurement. Revealed.

According to the announcement, Toyota Motor will suspend operations at 14 lines of eight domestic plants, including the Motomachi Plant and Tahara Plant in Aichi Prefecture, for up to 6 days from 16th this month.

This is because parts procurement has been delayed due to continued restrictions on going out due to the spread of infection in Shanghai, China.

This month's domestic and overseas production will be about 700,000, a decrease of about 130,000 from the original plan, including the amount that has already been reduced due to the shortage of semiconductors.

Toyota commented, "It is still difficult to look ahead for several months, but we will continue to make efforts to deliver as many units as possible to customers as soon as possible."

Among automakers, Honda, Mazda, and Mitsubishi Motors have also canceled operations at some factories due to the delay in procurement of parts from Shanghai, and there are concerns that the impact will be prolonged.
