BYD, a major Chinese manufacturer of EVs and electric vehicles, has announced its goal to sell a total of 4000 EV buses in Japan by 2030.

Even for commercial vehicles, competition between Japanese and overseas manufacturers for EVs is likely to intensify.

BYD in China, which was founded as a battery manufacturer and currently manufactures and sells EVs, sells 70,000 EV buses worldwide and has entered the Japanese market since 2015.

On the 10th, a new EV bus presentation was held in Tokyo, and it was announced that two models will be launched next year, including a new model that can run on a single charge = a cruising range that is about 10% longer than before.

Furthermore, it has announced a new goal of selling a total of 4000 EV buses in the Japanese market in 2030.

BYD has a 70% share of the EV bus field in Japan and is a leader in other companies.

Shinsaku Hanada, Vice President of BYD Japan, said, "Transportation companies are becoming more aware of electrification and it is not difficult to achieve their goals. I would like to do my best toward carbon neutrality in Japan."

Isuzu Motors Ltd. and Hino Motors Ltd. are also planning to jointly start production of EV buses from 2024, and competition between Japanese and overseas manufacturers for EVs is likely to intensify even for commercial vehicles.
