The manufacturer Alstom announced on Monday that it had won a contract worth “nearly 2.5 billion euros” for the supply of 130 regional trains in Baden-Württemberg, in the south-west of Germany, and their maintenance for 30 years. .

The order, placed by the Regional Agency for Railway Material in Baden-Württemberg (SFBW), includes an option for 100 additional trains, the French group said in a press release.

"This is the largest order placed with Alstom to date in Germany," he said.

First deliveries for 2025

The contract covers trains from the Coradia Stream family, each offering 380 seats, made up of four cars - two with two levels and two with a single level - and capable of being coupled into multiple units.

Capable of traveling up to 200 km/h and equipped with the latest signaling systems, the trains will offer air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, charging sockets, as well as lounges, conference rooms and family compartments, as well as space for luggage and bicycles, said the manufacturer.

The first deliveries are expected in 2025. More than 730 trains from the Coradia Stream family have already been ordered in Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Spain, according to Alstom.
