[Explanation] The 5-day "May Day" holiday in 2022 has ended.

Data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism shows that during the May 1st holiday, 160 million domestic tourists traveled in China, a year-on-year decrease of 30.2%.

[Explanation] The reporter combed through the data of many tourism platforms and found that due to the impact of the epidemic in some parts of the country, the travel radius of the people has been greatly shortened, local tours and surrounding tours are still the mainstream, and outdoor leisure methods such as picnics and camping are more popular.

During the May Day holiday, local travel orders accounted for 40%, 10 percentage points higher than the same period in 2021.

Young users' enthusiasm for market tours and art exhibitions, such as local fresh cultural experience, is growing rapidly.

From the perspective of product content, users prefer day trips with outdoor features such as hiking and seaside.

Some products that are just needed for camping, such as automatic tents, canopies, folding tables and chairs, have been sold out a week before the festival.

For example, young people will choose more camping + barbecue, camping + coffee, and parents with children will choose camping + parent-child, and will also consider whether there are related parent-child facilities around the campsite.

Some also choose to camp + drink tea, or even camp + outdoor outing.

[Explanation] The "camping fever" has also driven the popularity of the surrounding tourist businesses, and the order volume of hotels and homestays near the camp has increased significantly.

For related hotels and homestays with camping labels, orders increased by 153% compared with the Qingming holiday.

Taking Ctrip's word-of-mouth list of the top ten campsites in the country as an example, the number of orders for the surrounding hotels of the Jingjian Chayeli wild luxury tent campground, which ranked first on the list, increased by 67% during the May 1st holiday. The overall tourism product orders increased by 54%, and the hotel and homestay orders increased by 57% and 144% respectively.

[Explanation] Judging from the platform statistics, the May Day holiday country house is also very popular, and the post-80s and post-90s have become the main force of rural tourism.

According to the May 1 travel data released by Tujia Homestay, as of April 22, during the May Day period, the proportion of country homestay orders has reached 51%, an increase of 20% compared with the same period last year. This is also the country homestay during May Day. For the first time, the number of orders exceeded that of urban homestays.

More than 60% of the post-80s and post-90s are booking country houses. Parent-child tours, couples, and group trips are the main groups of tourists. Natural ecology, fruit and vegetable picking, farming research, handcrafting, and gourmet game are the most consumed. Welcome to the country house experience activities.

[Explanation] In addition, before the holiday, some areas with relatively stable epidemics successively issued consumer coupons and policies to benefit the people, which also played a role in boosting the tourism consumer market.

Many regions launched cultural tourism policies before the May Day holiday, and the popularity of travel has increased significantly.

On the whole, Sichuan, Hainan, Yunnan, and Hunan regions have higher rebound tours and become the hottest areas for this May 1st tour.

Hotels in Ganzi, Leshan, Aba, Sanya, Qianxinan, Zhangjiajie and other places more than doubled from April 27 to May 2.
