After a meeting in Istanbul with the head of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, announced that Hungary had received assurances from Russia that it was possible to make the planned investments in the construction project for the second stage of the Paks nuclear power plant.

“The construction of two new blocks of a nuclear power plant and a nuclear power plant will serve the interests of national security, the national economy and the national strategy of Hungary and will make Hungary's energy supply more reliable and predictable,” Szijjártó said.
Earlier, the Hungarian Foreign Minister commented on the EU plans to impose an embargo on Russian oil.
