She stated this following an emergency meeting of the EU Council in Brussels.

Simson said that all EU ministers opposed such a decision by the Russian company.

“This is a violation by Russia of its obligations under the contracts,” she said.

Simson also said that she considers Russia's demand to pay for gas in rubles "an attempt to divide the European Union."
