“We want to stop buying oil from Russia, but we need some time to make sure we have other sources of oil supplies for the country,” he said.

At the same time, authorities in Germany are working to ensure that the refinery in Schwedt, which is operated by Rosneft, can be provided with raw materials not from Russia using tanker deliveries across the Baltic Sea, Kukis said.

To do this, Germany will need to deepen the port in Rostock and lay a pipe from the port to Schwedt, the adviser said.
