Cai Weicai, senior vice president of Thailand's Kasikorn Bank, said in a recent video interview with Xinhua News Agency that China is a firm advocate of global free trade and multilateralism, and the rapid recovery of China's economy is an important driving force for global economic recovery.

Cai Weicai said that the biggest challenge facing Asian countries at present is to overcome the new crown epidemic and achieve economic recovery, and the rise in commodity prices such as energy caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has exacerbated this challenge.

The process of economic recovery will be full of challenges. The international community should respect each other, abandon the Cold War mentality, advocate mutually beneficial cooperation and multilateralism, and unite and work together to achieve the goal of peace and prosperity.

Cai Weicai said that one of the few bright spots of the Thai economy under the epidemic is exports, especially the sharp increase in exports to China in the past two years. The Thai government is very optimistic about the prospects of Thailand-China trade.

He said that the Thai government has always supported China's "Belt and Road" initiative, believing that it and the "Thailand 4.0" development strategy complement each other and complement each other, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which came into effect this year, is also expected to become a cross A model of environmental cooperation, bringing long-term prosperity to the region.

Speaking of China's economic data in the first quarter, Cai Weicai said that China's economy started this year steadily, with an impressive 4.8% economic growth rate.

He especially mentioned that China has also made great achievements in high-tech manufacturing, new energy vehicles, industrial robots, solar cells and other sub-sectors, which fully reflects that China is entering a new stage of high-quality development.

"The Chinese government is seeking a sustainable development path to consolidate the country's economic foundation," Cai Weicai said.

He spoke highly of the achievements of the Chinese government in combating the new crown epidemic and economic recovery, believing that this is closely related to China's huge domestic market, continuously optimized economic structure and forward-looking policies.

Cai Weicai believes that with a solid manufacturing base, experienced workforce and strong government support, China will continue to contribute to the global supply chain and the world economy.
