China News Service, Wuhan, April 28 (Liang Ting Qilin) The opening ceremony of the Sino-British Hydrogen Energy Cooperation Forum hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester, the British China Affairs Committee, and the Greater Manchester British-Chinese Association was held in Wuhan on the 28th.

Representatives from the Chinese and British governments, hydrogen energy academia, science and technology, and business circles discussed opportunities for hydrogen energy industry cooperation through video connections.

On the same day, Wuhan and Manchester signed a memorandum of exchange and cooperation in the hydrogen energy industry between the two cities; Wuhan University of Technology and Manchester Metropolitan University signed a letter of intent for hydrogen energy cooperation. The two parties will cooperate in hydrogen energy industry scientific research and personnel training.

Deloitte UK and Wuhan University of Technology, on behalf of China and the UK, respectively introduced the current situation and prospects of hydrogen energy industry development in the two countries, and discussed specific areas for future hydrogen energy cooperation.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and the UK.

In 1986, Wuhan City and Manchester City in the United Kingdom became sister cities, which is the earliest friendship between China and the United Kingdom.

It is reported that Hubei is one of the earliest provinces in the country to carry out the R&D and application of the hydrogen energy industry. After more than ten years of cultivation, the province has initially formed a full-chain development pattern of "technology R&D + upstream hydrogen production + midstream storage and transportation + downstream application" , the key core technologies and products are in the accelerated transition stage from pilot test to industrialization.

Wuhan is one of the earliest cities in China to deploy the hydrogen energy industry. The city has gathered more than 40 key hydrogen energy industry enterprises and research institutes.

At the same time, Wuhan is also the registration and settlement center of the national carbon emissions trading market.

Hubei Province has closely cooperated with industry, universities and research institutes in the field of hydrogen energy.

In terms of fuel cell core components, the province's membrane electrode level leads the country, and Wuhan Polytechnic Hydrogen Power is the fifth largest membrane electrode manufacturer in the world; in terms of fuel cell stacks and systems, the province's enterprises have developed a wide range of stacks and systems. It is used in the fields of drones, backup power supplies and commercial vehicles.

At the same time, in view of the relatively weak domestic hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and transportation and equipment manufacturing links, Wuhan Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park is focusing on the advantages of production, education and research to tackle key problems and promote the accelerated transformation of scientific research results.

Zhao Haishan, deputy governor of the Hubei Provincial Government, said that in the future, he hopes to strengthen the contact between the two sides through various forms such as holding seminars on a regular basis every year, and promote exchanges and cooperation between Hubei and the United Kingdom in the field of hydrogen energy.

Both parties are encouraged to jointly organize and implement major technology research and development projects, strengthen cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy through various means, and cultivate and expand the entire hydrogen energy industry chain.

According to the arrangement, Wuhan University of Technology will connect with Manchester Metropolitan University on the cloud to focus on the difficulties and hotspots of hydrogen energy applications, and make contributions to the realization of carbon peak carbon neutrality through breakthroughs in the development of the hydrogen energy industry.
