Tokyo Metro will raise the fare by 10 yen from next spring in order to have users bear the cost of installing platform doors to prevent falls.

According to the announcement, Tokyo Metro will raise the price for all routes by 10 yen per ride from around March next year, and about 2000 yen for 6 months on a commuter pass.

On the other hand, commuter passes are not covered.

In December of last year, in order to promote barrier-free access to station premises, etc., when installing platform doors and elevators to prevent falls, it is only necessary to make a notification without receiving national examination and approval. We have established a new system that allows you to add the cost to the fare.

This price increase will be carried out by utilizing this system, and it is expected that the annual sales increase will be more than 10.9 billion yen.

The company plans to use this fund to install platform doors at all stations by the end of FY2025, eliminate steps between the platform and the floor of vehicles, and install free space on all vehicles. I want to proceed.

Regarding the use of this system, JR East has announced that it will raise the price by 10 yen per ride on major routes in the Tokyo metropolitan area from around March next year.
