The author recalled that before the end of this year, during the period of peak energy consumption, the German authorities undertook to stop the last three nuclear power plants operating in the country - Isar 2, Emsland and Neckarwestheim 2. 

“The behavior is reminiscent of a starving person who throws away their last piece of bread because it is hard and dry,” notes Neubacher.

He emphasized that the rejection of coal is more beneficial for the environment, and also added that it is not yet known whether the capacity of alternative energy - solar and wind stations - will be enough to provide the country.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also expressed the opinion that an embargo on gas from Russia would have serious consequences for Germany and Europe.

As Gazprom previously stated, European countries are facing a serious challenge to replenish gas reserves in underground storage facilities by next winter, which will have a strong impact on the cost of gas on the market.
