France issues international arrest warrant for Carlos Ghosn

France has issued an international arrest warrant for the former head of the "Renault-Nissan" auto group, Carlos Ghosn, who was arrested in Japan at the end of 2018, and fled in dramatic circumstances, prosecutors told AFP on Friday.

The memo related to more than 15 million euros in suspicious payments between the Renault-Nissan alliance that Ghosn headed.

Ghosn, 67, has been issued with an Interpol arrest warrant, and he has been forced to stay in Lebanon since his escape from Japan in December 2019.

Ghosn was arrested in November 2018 in Tokyo, and justified his escape that he wanted to "escape injustice", denouncing his exposure to a "conspiracy" hatched by the Japanese authorities.
