The Ministry of Economy has launched a new electronic platform for the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the UAE and India, which was signed under the auspices of the leaderships of the two countries in February 2022, and will enter into force on May 1, 2022.

The electronic platform allows companies and investors in the UAE, wishing to take advantage of the benefits provided by the agreement, access to all information related to that historic agreement, which witnessed the start of a new era of economic and trade cooperation between the two friendly countries, introducing them to the commercial and investment opportunities and advantages in the market. He added: "This integrated knowledge base enhances the benefit of exporters, suppliers, investors, entrepreneurs, innovators and talents to learn about new opportunities under the umbrella of the agreement, and thus enhances their ability to develop specific expansion strategies focused on the Indian market."

According to the Ministry of Economy, the platform provides detailed information about all 18 chapters of the agreement, and identifies the simple steps that companies in the UAE can take to start or expand their commercial relationship with India, in addition to providing comprehensive and clear details for each sector separately, regarding Tariff structures, rules of origin, preferential treatment, customs procedures, digital trade and support for SMEs, which will help entrepreneurs determine the rules and tariffs that apply to their business sectors and products, and the certificates that need to be obtained to enter the Indian market, under the new regulations.

The ministry stated that a team of experts was appointed to respond to inquiries from the private sector and investors regarding information related to the agreement, and to clarify its terms, as well as informing companies of many commercial treatments included in the agreement, noting that the team includes a number of relevant experts from the Abu Dhabi and Dubai Chambers, and the Department of Economy. and tourism in Dubai.


In the coming period, the Ministry of Economy also intends to hold a series of meetings with major governmental, family, and international companies to help them gain a broader understanding of the details of reducing and eliminating customs duties, which cover 80% of the products covered by the agreement.
