April is the season that alternates between spring and summer, and it is also the busiest season for hijiki farmers in Dongtou, Wenzhou, Zhejiang.

Recently, the reporter learned from the Dongtou District Ocean and Fishery Development Research Center that the local 8,000 mu of hijiri has ushered in a bumper harvest. The busy farmers in the port and the trucks loaded with hijiri have become a special sight on the island in April.

The reporter followed the farmers to the breeding area, and saw that the yellow-brown hijiki was growing satisfactorily. In just a few months, it has grown from the original seedlings to the current "big head".

In the hijiki farming area, farmers and boatmen pull rope, harvest, and ship, and everything is in an orderly manner.

It is understood that since the successful artificial cultivation of hijiki in 1989, Dongtou has continuously developed and expanded the scale of artificial breeding, innovated the processing technology and equipment of hijiki through relevant policy support, research and development of new varieties and scientific research promotion, and formed a production , supply and sales through-train industrialization pattern.

On this basis, a variety of products such as ready-to-eat snacks and pre-made dishes have also been developed to bring hijiki to the dining table of citizens.
