Center Finance and Economics, April 19. On the 19th, Meng Wei, a spokesman for the National Development and Reform Commission, said at a press conference in April that we have noticed that recently, due to factors such as geopolitical conflicts, concerns about the global food crisis have intensified.

According to the latest data released by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, global food prices jumped to a record high again in March this year.

In contrast, my country's food supply is relatively sufficient, prices are stable, and food security is generally guaranteed.

First, the comprehensive grain production capacity is relatively strong.

Since 2004, my country's grain production has achieved "eighteen consecutive harvests", and in 2021, the national grain output will reach a new high, remaining above 13 trillion kilograms for seven consecutive years.

Second, the grain inventory is relatively sufficient.

The main urban areas of 36 large and medium-sized cities and the local refined grain and oil reserves in areas prone to market fluctuations have reached 15 days or more, and the ability to prevent market risks has been enhanced.

Third, the ability to ensure emergency food supply is increasing day by day.

Under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, the domestic grain market has always maintained a good momentum of stable operation, which has provided a solid foundation and favorable conditions for coping with the risk of global food crisis and ensuring national food security.

Meng Wei said that food security is related to economic development and social stability.

In the current complex and severe international environment, we need to strengthen bottom-line thinking, enhance risk awareness, and do relevant work without slack.

In the next step, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Grain Material Reserve Bureau will adhere to comprehensive policies and precise control to effectively ensure the supply of domestic grain markets.

One is to stabilize food production.

While stabilizing food rations and corn, efforts were made to expand soybean production.

The second is to precisely arrange policy grain sales.

According to the market situation and regulation needs, rationally arrange policy grain sales to ensure the formation of an effective supply.

Since the beginning of this year, a total of 11.9 million tons of policy grains have been sold, meeting the market demand.

The third is to continue to do a good job in grain procurement.

Urge all localities to resolutely implement the requirements of the party and government for food security, and actively guide grain farmers to sell grain at a timely and appropriate price, and enterprises to receive grain in a balanced and orderly manner.

At present, the acquisition of autumn grains is coming to an end, and the progress of the acquisition is significantly faster than that of the previous year.

Fourth, strengthen market monitoring and early warning.

Pay close attention to changes in the domestic and foreign grain market conditions, increase monitoring of key regions, varieties and time periods, and promptly discover and properly handle emerging, tendentious and potential problems.

Fifth, strengthen the law enforcement and supervision of the grain market.

Seriously investigate and punish all kinds of violations of laws and regulations, and effectively maintain a good market order.
