China's National Bureau of Statistics responded to the survey on rising unemployment: employment stability still has more favorable conditions

China News Service, Beijing, April 18 (Reporter Wang Enbo) In the first quarter, new urban jobs in China expanded, but the surveyed unemployment rate rose.

Fu Linghui, spokesperson of the National Bureau of Statistics of China and director of the National Economic Comprehensive Statistics Department, responded in Beijing on the 18th that despite facing many difficulties, China still has many favorable conditions to maintain stable employment.

The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the operation of the national economy in the first quarter on the same day, Fu Linghui said at the meeting.

He said frankly that since the beginning of this year, the international situation has been complicated and severe, and the impact of the domestic epidemic has continued, which has caused certain pressure on China's employment.

However, the employment-first policy continued to exert its strength, and the assistance to enterprises was also intensified, and the overall employment situation remained basically stable.

In the first quarter, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.5 percent, 0.1 percentage point higher than the same period last year.

Among them, the unemployment rate of the 25-59-year-old main employment group was 4.9%, which was the same as the same period of the previous year.

From the monthly trend, Fu Linghui analyzed that the surveyed unemployment rate in cities and towns across the country has increased, and the increase in January and February was mainly due to seasonal factors. Because job seekers changed jobs around the Spring Festival, the unemployment rate increased. .

From general experience, after March, as workers find jobs one after another, the surveyed urban unemployment rate will gradually decline.

However, he also pointed out that since March this year, due to the impact of the domestic epidemic, it has become more difficult for some people to find employment, some job seekers have been affected to a certain extent, and the urban surveyed unemployment rate has increased.

In March, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.8 percent, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.

This reflects that the production and operation difficulties of enterprises have increased, and the employment pressure has increased.

Talking about the favorable conditions for stabilizing employment in China in the next stage, Fu Linghui pointed out that the coordination of epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development will continue to be effective, and the adverse effects of the epidemic will be gradually controlled.

This year, the government will further reduce taxes and fees, and increase support for the real economy, which is conducive to the rescue and development of enterprises and stabilizes jobs.

At the same time, the continuous development of entrepreneurship and innovation is conducive to promoting the increase of jobs; strengthening vocational skills training and employment assistance is also conducive to the connection between supply and demand in the job market.
