On April 18, at the press conference on the operation of the national economy in the first quarter held by the Information Office of the State Council, Fu Linghui, spokesperson of the National Bureau of Statistics and director of the Department of Comprehensive Statistics of the National Economy, introduced the operation of the national economy in the first quarter of 2022.
Fu Linghui said that the Chinese economy created 2.85 million new jobs in cities and towns in the first quarter, and the national average urban survey unemployment rate was 5.5%.
In March, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.8 percent, up 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.
The surveyed unemployment rates of the 16-24 and 25-59 age groups were 16.0% and 5.2% respectively.
The surveyed unemployment rate in 31 large cities and towns was 6.0%.
The national average weekly working time of enterprise employees is 47.3 hours.
