Dubai Electricity and Water Authority launched its annual Ramadan awareness campaign, aimed at raising awareness about rationalization behaviors, and the importance of adopting a conscious and sustainable lifestyle, in accordance with the teachings of the true Islamic religion and the values ​​of the holy month, which call for moderation, avoiding waste and extravagance.

It revealed significant cumulative savings between 2012 and 2021, as a result of the authority's rationalization initiatives and programs, equivalent to savings of 1.2 billion dirhams, and reducing 1.1 million tons of carbon emissions.

Awareness lectures

During the campaign, the authority will organize a series of virtual and attendance awareness lectures, to encourage community members to contribute to achieving sustainable development, preserving the environment, and reducing emissions.

The campaign targets senior citizens, people of determination, Quran memorization centers, participants in the "Ramadan Safety" campaign, sports clubs, orphans, and new Muslims.

The authority also organizes during the holy month a number of events, competitions and virtual internal lectures in Arabic and English, to shed light on the lofty values ​​represented by the holy month of Ramadan.

She stressed that the authority's rationalization initiatives and programs have resulted in significant cumulative savings among the target groups between 2012 and 2021, amounting to 2.2 terawatt-hours of electricity and 5.6 billion gallons of water, equivalent to savings of 1.2 billion dirhams, and reducing 1.1 million tons of carbon emissions. ».
