Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, through the "Green Charger Initiative", has supplied more than 8,800 megawatt-hours of electricity to charge electric vehicles in the Emirate of Dubai since 2015, which contributed to cutting a total of 58 million kilometers using electric vehicles, and achieving fuel cost savings. The authority's green charger network covers all parts of the emirate, and includes more than 325 charging stations distributed throughout the emirate, equivalent to more than 560 charging points.

The percentage of customers' happiness about the "Green Charger" service reached 97% during the year 2021, while their happiness rate about the quality of the service reached 93%.

Registration facilities

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has launched many features to facilitate charging electric vehicles on its public charging network. Once the customer has registered his electric vehicle with the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, he can benefit from charging stations within an hour of registering the vehicle. The customer can also create a green charger account through the authority’s website and smart application, or through the interactive voice response system at the customer care center.

The authority also provides a "green charger user dashboard", to facilitate the management of green charger services for electric vehicles, and allows all customers, whether they are registered in the "green charger" initiative or not, to benefit from the service through the "visitor feature".
