• Q&A Telecommuting in the Civil Service 2022: who will work three days and who will pay for Wi-Fi

  • Public employees The Government freezes the teleworking decree for civil servants

The

Ministry of Finance

is preparing an energy saving shock plan in the field of public administration, which involves

once again promoting teleworking

for positions that allow it and as long as it does not affect the functioning of public services.

"Encourage mobility or energy consumption that may be avoidable in the future, because energy, although one may have the false feeling that you can pay for it, the country as a whole cannot do it and we all have to contribute with a rational", explained the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, María Jesús Montero, in an interview with EFE.

The Treasury will resume the agreement reached in April 2021 with the public sector unions in which three days of teleworking per week were set for the post-pandemic stage, after last September it decided to restrict teleworking to a single day per week due to the advance of vaccination.

The plan will contemplate a more rational use and a more efficient technology in energy terms in public buildings -also in the lighting of public roads-, "being able to accompany and accommodate the hours to which the buildings are used when there is a greater concentration of public workers.

Almost 100% of the advances requested by the gas stations have been paid

Of the measures already adopted to deal with the energy crisis resulting from the

invasion of Ukraine

, Montero highlighted the start-up "in record time" of the bonus of 20 cents per liter of fuel and the effort of the Tax Agency to anticipate to gas stations that discount.

Treasury sources have specified that 303 million euros have already been paid to 4,850 companies, more than 98% of those who have requested the advance.

For the minister, apart from specific cases of gas stations that have closed in a universe of more than 11,000 service stations, "the important thing is that the discount is being applied" and that it has had an immediate effect for the consumer since 1 april.

This measure is added to the

tax reductions

applied

to the electricity bill

with a cost of 12,000 million, which will be in force until June 30, but which the Government will extend if necessary to stabilize prices.

"We have the capacity to adapt (...) and we are showing signs of being up to the task," said Montero, who believes that it is necessary to "combat" the idea that the war is going to be prolonged.

The temporary setting of a maximum price for gas in the wholesale electricity market, in accordance with the joint proposal of Spain and Portugal, which Montero hopes will receive the authorization from Brussels this month.
