Sanyang turkey noodles are accused of "double standard", the shelf life of the same product changes from 6 months in South Korea to one year in China

Recently, some netizens broke the news that South Korea's imported turkey noodles have a double shelf life problem: the shelf life of products sold in China is displayed as one year, but the shelf life of the same product sold in South Korea is displayed as half a year.

Turkey noodles is a kind of instant noodles. Because of the "eating and broadcasting" of some Korean variety shows and bloggers, this instant noodles with the selling point of "extra spicy" has become an "Internet celebrity" food and is very popular among young consumer groups.

Recently, the "double standard" of its shelf life has also caused heated discussions among netizens.

A reporter from Beijing Youth Daily noticed that when the official website of Samyang Foods Korea introduced the product of turkey noodles, the Korean language showed that the product has a shelf life of 6 months.

However, after switching the website to the Chinese and English versions, not only the product introduction column has changed, but the shelf life of the same product has also changed to 12 months.

Not only does the official website show that the products have different shelf lives, but a reporter from Beiqing Daily noticed that in the Q&A about the product of bowled turkey noodles on the official online store of Samyang Foods in South Korea, the seller clearly replied that the turkey noodles had The shelf life is 6 months from the date of production.

In the flagship store of Sanyang Foods on the domestic e-commerce platform, the product introduction clearly pointed out that the shelf life of this product is 12 months.

The customer service of the store also stated that its products are produced in South Korea, and the manufacturer will directly design and print Chinese packaging according to Chinese regulations.

When a reporter from Beiqing Daily asked about its specific shelf life, the customer service replied that "please see the detailed packaging of the product".

How long is the shelf life of instant noodles?

According to industry insiders, instant noodles are mostly fried foods.

During the frying process, the oil is heated at high temperature, and a hydrolysis reaction occurs, followed by an increase in free fatty acids and an increase in physical and chemical indicators.

In the process of product circulation and storage, the fat contained in instant noodles will be gradually oxidized, resulting in the continuous increase of the peroxide value index.

Especially in summer, the higher the storage temperature, the faster the oxidation.

Therefore, most instant noodle manufacturers set the shelf life at about 6 months to avoid long-term storage leading to excessive physical and chemical indicators.

It is understood that the shelf life of instant noodles of various brands such as Master Kong, Uni-President, Nissin, Nongshim, Jinmailang and Baixiang is 6 months.

As of press time, Sanyang Foods has not yet responded to the "double standard" issue of the shelf life of turkey noodles.
