dnata, the world's leading provider of aviation and travel services, has announced the expansion of its cargo operations in Europe with the acquisition of Wiskerchen Ground Handling, its first investment in Germany.
The company confirmed in a statement that its entry into the German market, which requires government approval, will contribute to strengthening its position as a leading global provider of freight services.
dnata revealed that it had entered into an agreement with Oliver Hellwig, owner of Wiskerchen, to acquire all of the company's shares.
According to the statement, Weisscribe is the exclusive operator of the Cologne Bonn Cargo Centre, a 12,000 square meter facility at Cologne/Bonn Airport, which provides a full range of freight services with a team of around 180 employees.
The company handles more than 85,000 tons of merchandise annually, including general merchandise and perishable products, pharmaceuticals, dangerous goods, electronics and consumer goods.
Cologne/Bonn Airport is also the third largest airport in Germany, in terms of cargo operations, with great potential for further growth in the future.
The airport operates around the clock and is ideally located in the heart of Northwest Europe, with an excellent road network.
During 2021, the airport set a new record, as the goods it handled recorded a growth of 14%.

In another context, "Rafid Vehicle Solutions Company" signed an agreement with "Dnata", the global provider of air travel services.
Under the agreement, Rafid will provide comprehensive repairs to dnata's engines and ground handling equipment, which will be carried out at the specialized repair center at Rafid's modern facility, which covers an area of 50,000 square meters in Al Azra area, Sharjah.
