China News Service, Meizhou, April 4 (Guo Jun, Deng Lianxu) On April 3, after more than 400 days of unremitting efforts by the builders of China Railway 25th Bureau, the Erjiao Mountain No. 1 Tunnel of the 4th section of the Meilong Railway was successfully completed. It is the first one-kilometer-long tunnel in this tender section, marking the successful completion of the "last kilometer" on the girder passage, laying a solid foundation for the development of girder along the entire line.

Erjiaoshan No. 1 Tunnel is located in Huacheng Town, Wuhua County, Meizhou City. The tunnel has a total length of 1275.53 meters and is a key channel for beam erection and track laying on the entire line.

The entrance and exit of the tunnel are located deep in the mountains and forests, and the traffic is inconvenient.

Restricted by topography and geological conditions, it is difficult to clean many giant boulders with a diameter of more than 2 meters at the entrance of the tunnel, and there are many shallow buried biases in the tunnel entrance, which are also affected by continuous geological faults, making construction difficult.

In order to ensure the safe and efficient connection of the tunnel, the builders built a construction access road with a length of more than 10 kilometers, breaking the bottleneck of transportation, and invited experts to study and demonstrate the construction plan on site many times, and continued to increase the investment in personnel, machinery and equipment.

According to Wu Jia, deputy manager of the second branch of the Meilong Railway 4th bid project of the China Railway 25th Bureau: "In the face of the tight construction period, more than 200 of our tunnel managers and construction workers will stick to their posts during the festival to ensure that both construction and epidemic prevention are correct. Up to now, 13 of the 19 tunnels in this bidding section have passed through, and the project construction has entered a full-scale sprint stage."

The Meilong Railway is located in Meizhou and Heyuan, with a total length of 95.6 kilometers and a construction period of 4 years. It is the first high-speed railway project with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour invested and constructed by Guangdong Province. It also supports the integration of Meizhou and Heyuan into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Major infrastructure projects for development strategies.

After the completion of the Meilong Railway, the travel time from Meizhou to Guangzhou will be shortened from the original 6 hours to 1.5 hours, which will greatly improve the transportation conditions between Meizhou and the Pearl River Delta region, and accelerate the formation of the Pearl River Delta region to northern Fujian and the Yangtze River Delta. It is of great significance to improve the national medium and long-term high-speed railway network as a convenient channel for regional connections.
