The new i3 comes in the form of an electric 3 Series with an extended wheelbase, an architecture particularly popular in China.
The front face has however been redesigned.
It certainly foreshadows that of the facelift of the 3 Series expected soon.
The i3 eDrive35L will be offered in a single variant with a 210 kW (286 hp) electric motor on the rear axle as for the iX3 and i4.
The battery capacity is 70.3 kWh (66.1 kWh net), which according to the Chinese CLTC cycle significantly more optimistic than the European WLTP cycle, promises a range of 526 km.
Fast charging is possible up to 95 kW DC.
The BMW i3 will be built at the BMW Brilliance plant in Shenyang.
It will be exclusively intended for the Chinese market.
