Zhongxin Finance, April 2. According to the official website of the National Energy Administration, the National Energy Administration and the Ministry of Science and Technology recently issued the "14th Five-Year Plan for Scientific and Technological Innovation in the Energy Sector". Actively and orderly development of nuclear power, support and lead the high-quality development of the energy industry.

The "Plan" proposes that a new generation of nuclear energy technology featuring safer, more efficient and more economical features and its diversified applications should become the main direction of global nuclear energy scientific and technological innovation.

After the Fukushima accident, the global nuclear power construction has entered a stage of steady and prudent development, but the pace of nuclear energy technology innovation has not slowed down.

The United States, Russia, France and other nuclear power powers, relying on long-term technology accumulation, aim at the future development direction of nuclear energy such as safer, more efficient and more economical, and continuously increase R&D investment and policy support. A large number of technological research and development and test demonstrations have been carried out in multiple applications such as nuclear energy heating, advanced nuclear fuel and cycle, life extension of in-service units, and smart operation and maintenance, laying a solid foundation for leading the safe and efficient development of the global nuclear energy industry in the future.

The "Planning" also pointed out that, focusing on improving the level of nuclear power technology and equipment and project economics, we should carry out optimization research on key technologies of the third generation of nuclear power, support the establishment of standardized models and model pedigrees; strengthen strategic and forward-looking nuclear energy technology innovation, develop small modular reactors, (Ultra) high temperature gas-cooled reactors, molten salt reactors and other new generation of advanced nuclear energy systems key core technologies; carry out research on key technologies such as radioactive waste treatment and disposal, long-term operation of nuclear power plants, and life extension, and promote the sustainable development of the entire nuclear energy industry chain upstream and downstream.
