Of course it would be nice if the many well-qualified Ukrainian refugees in Germany could soon work in their learned profession.

For themselves, because it increases the chances of successful integration, but also for the companies that are looking for more employees than ever before.

The goal set by Labor Minister Heil to speed up the recognition of foreign professional qualifications is therefore correct.

But one should remain realistic: It has long been known that Germany is far too sluggish and bureaucratic in this area - but little has been done so far.

This will not happen overnight either.

There are also other hurdles, above all a lack of language skills.

If refugees now want to work in simple jobs in order to earn some money - even if only for a few weeks - one should not demonize it, but one should not lose sight of the long-term goal either.

Work in accordance with the qualification is an essential factor for the sustainable integration of refugees.

However, that takes time.
