With its Giulia and Stelvio, we cannot say that Alfa Romeo is particularly comfortable on the D segment against the Germans, but also against the Asians.

It's even worse in the E segment, where only the aging Maserati Levante represents the Stellantis group.

Well that will change!

Jean-Philippe Imparato, the Frenchman at the head of Alfa Romeo, confirmed to our colleagues from Autoweek magazine that a recent internal decision had validated the development of a new large SUV, placed above the Stelvio.

That said, the arrival of this new SUV would not occur before 2027, the year during which the Italian brand will make its electric transition, abandoning combustion engines.

Electrification is indeed a great opportunity to raise the level of performance and to compete with historical brands, without investing billions of euros in the development of new heat engines.

After all, an electric motor is an electric motor and a battery is a battery, right?

It is therefore on other aspects that premium brands will build/maintain their image: on-board technologies, finishes and customization options.

Talk about good news...
