The retail price of regular gasoline this week was 174.6 yen per liter on a national average, the first drop in 11 weeks.

The increase in the subsidy limit by the government has stopped the price increase, but it has been at the highest level for the first time in about 13 and a half years.

According to the Petroleum Information Center, which is commissioned by the government to investigate gasoline prices, the retail price of regular gasoline as of 22nd was 174.6 yen per liter on average, down 0.6 yen from last week.

In addition, the over-the-counter price of kerosene was 2068 yen per 18 liters on average nationwide, a decrease of 3 yen from last week.

It is the first time in 11 weeks that the prices of regular gasoline and kerosene have started to fall.

The upper limit of subsidies to oil wholesale companies by the government has been raised, and 25 yen per liter was paid from 17th this month, so the price increase has been stopped once, but the high level for the first time in about 13 and a half years it is continuing.

Crude oil prices remain high due to Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, and further measures in the future will be the focus.
