The Government has approved in the Council of Ministers two new Strategic Projects for economic recovery and transformation (PERTE) to which it will allocate

more than 4,000 million euros

and which it intends to mobilize around 8,000 million in total.

One of them will be destined to digitize the water cycle and the other, to the aerospace sector.

For the Government, these are two basic plans, one due to the challenge posed by climate change and the other due to the need for the country to participate in the space race, although also for the same reason as that of water.

Thus, Spain aspires to create its space agency, but also the zero-emission hydrogen plane.

Thus, 1,940 million euros will be allocated to the PERTE that seeks to digitize the water cycle, while the one dedicated to the aerospace sector will receive 2,200 million of public money.

The Executive considers that the first will mobilize a total of about 3,000 million after receiving an additional 1,000 from private capital, while the second will go to 4,500.

"The PERTE for digitizing the water cycle is essential, it is key," assured the Third Vice President of the Government and Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, at the press conference after the Council.

"Water is so important and systemic, and the management of the comprehensive water cycle in all its aspects is so decisive in our well-being, that it is estimated that it affects around a third of the country's GDP," Ribera pointed out.

The digitalization of the water cycle is already the

third PERTE that depends on its Ministry

of it.

Broadly speaking, the aim of the project is to transform and modernize the water management systems in Spain, both in the urban cycle and in irrigation and industry.

In addition, they aspire to improve the knowledge of this resource and facilitate its management -also make it more transparent- and help meet the environmental objectives for the different bodies of water.

As a consequence, they hope to create 3,500 highly qualified jobs.
