An increasing number of self-employed people have recently installed unmanned ordering machines, or kiosks, in their stores to save labor costs amid the corona virus.

However, a report came in saying that the machine I put in with great enthusiasm had not been working for several months, and that only money was wasted.

This content was covered by reporter Jae Hee-won.

Jeon Hyeon-gu, who has been running a meat restaurant in Seoul for 7 years.

He bought nine table-top kiosks from a salesperson who came to the store last November.

Although he was burdened with the amount of close to 10 million won, he signed a contract to save even labor costs when he said that his customers could even order and pay on the spot.

However, after four months of installation, only the power is turned on, and there is no order or payment.

The vendor just keeps telling you to wait for a software update.

In the meantime, his installment payments were running out.

[Jeon Hyeon-gu/President of the damaged restaurant (Seoul): (These days) 50,000 won and 100,000 won are also a pity, so I did this to save even a little.

I was angry and couldn't even sleep.]

Mr. Kim Jeom-soon, who runs a restaurant in Ulsan, paid 13 million won in July last year to install 10 kiosks, but it still works.

She delayed even her request for a refund, and she eventually filed a lawsuit.

[Kim Jeom-soon / President of the damaged restaurant (Ulsan): Even now, the machine is left unattended.

(The company) said they couldn't do it because it was illegal.

Does that make sense?] Self-employed cafes are lined with articles saying that

they suffered damage from this company.

[Lee Sang-chan / President of the damaged restaurant (Hwaseong, Gyeonggi): I go out 400,000 won a month.

If you keep calling, (the company) comes out like a boat.

The company explained that it was refunding

in turn, saying that the production of the program was delayed due to some employees leaving the company.

In order to avoid damage, it is recommended that the contract clearly state the time of installation and use as well as the terms of compensation in case of non-compliance.
