• Transport strike The Government today mobilizes three ministers to address the carrier strike but will not speak with the conveners

The

transport strike

, called by the

Platform for the Defense of the National and International Road Freight Transport Sector,

reaches its eighth day this Monday, which is causing some incidents and shortage problems.

The President of the Government,

Pedro Sánchez

, expressed last week his "absolute empathy" before the demands of the carriers, to whom he has offered dialogue, but has called for calm in the face of the violent actions of "a minority" against which The Executive will guarantee public order.

This Monday the carriers will meet with three ministers to address their requests.

Trucks, tractors and SUVs go through Arahal in support of transport strike

A hundred vehicles, including trucks, tractors and SUVs, have traveled the streets of Arahal

(

Seville

) at a slow pace this Monday

, in support of the strike in the transport sector, which is one week old.

The mobilization began at 9:00 in the 'Los Pozos' industrial estate, in a municipality where agricultural activity is of special importance, since it is the place in the world where the most table olives of varieties such as manzanilla are produced.

The participants have collected several streets of the municipality to reach the fairgrounds, from where they have taken the A-92 in the direction of

Seville

.

The conveners had asked the population for maximum support so that local carriers are protected, under the motto "do not stay at home", for which some neighbors have participated with their private cars.

The carriers have placed banners with different slogans on some trucks, such as 'We are not terrorists, we are carriers', or 'If we stop, Spain will stop'.

Garamendi: there are measures that should have been taken already because the country cannot be "stopped" by the transport strike

The president of the

CEOE

,

Antonio Garamendi

, has stated that there are measures that the central government should have already adopted to address the current situation because "the country cannot be allowed to stand still".

Likewise, he has claimed to understand the problems of the transport sector, but has condemned all acts of violence and has called for order and responsibility because it is causing "a general stoppage" of many other sectors "causing irreparable damage."

Garamendi participated this Monday in Bilbao in the X Deusto Business School Financial Conference, developed in collaboration with Deusto Business Alumni and in which the "Next Generation Funds" are addressed.

The president of the

CEOE

, who this Monday afternoon will meet with the vice president and different ministers of the central government who have summoned the social agents to address the National Plan for response to the war that the Executive intends to approve on March 29, has indicated that they will attend the meeting to learn about the planned initiatives.

Garamendi

has pointed out that "measures must be taken" because there are sectors that are "very affected" and has recalled that they have been "warning for a long time".

Specifically, he has cited the world of the countryside, fishing and transport, and has pointed out that, although there are situations caused by exogenous causes, measures can be taken.

"Let's see what they are," he added.

The president of the

CEOE

believes that some of them "surely" should have been taken before, because the situation "is complicated and has to be fixed", because what cannot be allowed is that "the country is at a standstill" since If not, you're going to have "a much bigger problem."

Escrivá points to direct aid to sectors in the face of rising prices

The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration,

José Luis Escrivá

, has assured that the package of measures in which the Government is working in response to the rise in prices may include "direct aid for sectors".

In an interview this Monday on TVE, the minister explained that the Government wants to address a response to this situation "with complementary measures that fit well within the European framework", for which it awaits the meeting of

the European Council

that will take place on 24 and March 25.

The minister has expressed "great expectations" at this summit, which he hopes "will help decouple the impact of the price of gas from that of electricity, among other elements."

Meanwhile, the Government is "tuning" this package of measures, in the meetings that it will hold today with the autonomous communities and with the social agents, which are added to other bilateral ones that it maintains with the affected sectors.

Among these measures, he said, "there may be direct aid for sectors."

Asked specifically about the

transport strike

, which is already causing problems in the food supply chain, the minister assured that "the right to express discontent must be respected, but we must reflect on the opportunity, given the measures that are about to be deploy".

Ford for the production of vehicles due to lack of supplies

Ford

has stopped production in vehicle operations this Monday due to the lack of supplies and components, as it did two days last week, and it is only available in the

ERTE

that is in force on the 31st.

The supply and transport crisis, which has worsened after the Russian invasion of

Ukraine

, has forced the vehicle plants to stop on the first day of this week, but not the Motors plant, as UGT reminds its workers in a statement.

At the last meeting of the

Ford Spain

ERTE monitoring commission, it was agreed to modify the planned schedule of the temporary employment regulation file to address the instability in the supply of semiconductors and components.

Of the fifteen days of application of the ERTE for the first quarter of the year, only Thursday, March 31 is pending according to the calendar, and for the moment no decision has been adopted in this regard.

The current ERTE at the

Almussafes

plant , which has a workforce of around 6,000 workers, ends on March 31.

In recent years, regulatory files have been taking place, first due to the stoppage in demand caused by the pandemic, and later the semiconductor crisis was added.

Volkswagen Navarra will stop this Monday due to the transport stoppage

The

Volkswagen Navarra

factory will stop this Monday, March 21, since due to the

transport strike

, which "is intensifying", it has not been possible to maintain the supply of parts, as reported by the UGT union section.

According to the plant's management, during this weekend and today, Monday, work will be done to provide the necessary parts to keep the factory producing for the rest of the week, "which is not yet guaranteed."

The management has also informed that there will be some workshops that will work in some shifts this Monday, for which the affected personnel will be informed.

In anticipation of the possibility that there would be more days of closure due to the same circumstance, the decision on the treatment of this day of unemployment and/or those that could come has been postponed until later.

From

UGT

they have "solidarized" with the transport sector and in the vindication of their demands, for which they have wanted "a prompt solution".

Agrarian Unions is concentrated today in Galicia "against the blockade of the farms" due to the transport stoppage

The professional organization

Unións Agrarias

(

UUAA

) will meet this Monday before the Government Delegation in

Galicia

"against the blockade of the farms" due to the

strike of the carriers

.

The president of the UUAA,

Roberto García

, has demanded that the Central Executive provide solutions to the transport conflict because "no animal can go without food" and citizens "cannot suffer from a shortage of goods" due to the "non-application" of some minimal emergency services.

In the demonstration held yesterday in

Madrid

in defense of the primary sector,

Roberto García

valued the demands of the carriers, but defends that ranchers and farmers cannot be "hostages" throwing milk or slaughtering animals.

"We have to make the two rights coincide and demand that the Government enforce essential services," he defended.

For his part, the Xunta Regional Minister for Rural Affairs, José González, has acknowledged that the situation in

Galicia

is becoming "very complicated", which is why he has demanded the Minister of Transport,

Raquel Sánchez

, to meet with the platform that called the strike to unblock as soon as possible a situation that, he says, could cause the Galician food chain to collapse.

"It is a dramatic situation and therefore we ask that they dialogue as soon as possible with the platform calling for the strike and, while that does not occur, we ask the Government delegate to enable safe corridors because in a couple of days the situation can get out of control", Gonzalez remarked.
