Regarding the issue of relocating the office, there are mixed reactions among Yongsan residents.

In the area close to the office, there are voices of concern that development may become difficult in the future, while a place with high-rise apartments a little further away may benefit from it, and it is a welcoming atmosphere.

Reporter Han Sang-woo covered the scene.

When asked about the previous issue, residents and merchants near the Yongsan Ministry of Defense pour out their complaints.

[Residents of Yongsan Shopping Street: Should I say that it is outdated (than now)?

The area itself is opposed to that.]

Right next to the Ministry of National Defense, there is a plan to build a 30-story mixed-use building, but it may be blocked due to security issues.

[Yongsan-gu residents: (Restricted development) You promised not to do that, but would a building taller than the president's office be permitted?

That's nonsense...

.]

The height limit is particularly worrisome.

In Yeouido alone, high-rise buildings with more than 60 floors can be built in Dongyeoido, where financial institutions are gathered, but Seoyeoido, on the side of the National Assembly, limits buildings to a maximum of 65m.

The elected officials said there would be no additional restrictions, but residents have no doubts that there will be restrictions in some form.

As the complaints continued, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon also started to evolve.

[Seoul Oh / Mayor of Seoul: We have had a sufficiently intensive discussion on that part, and as you are worried, there is no need to worry about the construction restrictions that may occur because of the relocation…

.]

Conversely, the residents of high-rise apartments who have already entered the surrounding area welcome the relocation.

The idea is that if the parks around the Department of Defense are built faster and development is limited, their value will increase.

[Yongsan-gu residents: Those who expected that the park could be used more quickly, quickly, and more comfortably, approve it…

.]

Even within the same Yongsan area, the public opinion is divided and the controversy is expected to continue.
