The National Association of Automatic Stations (Aesae) has warned that the transport strike, which is already affecting several sectors, is beginning to cause shortages

at gas stations as

well .

Specifically, it is beginning to be noticed "mainly in Andalusia and the Levante area", according to the organization in a statement.

The fuel thus joins several fresh products, such as milk, fish, meat, fruit or vegetables, as well as beers, soft drinks and even car distribution.

According to Aesae, "some of the more than 1,300 automatic gas stations in Spain are suffering supply problems caused by the stoppage of road transport that Spain has suffered since this week."

Although they do not give specific figures, they place this shortage in Andalusia, Valencia and Murcia.

Of course, they consider that if the situation does not improve, "all of Spain would be involved in an unprecedented crisis."

In addition, the organization recalls that the strike comes in a "context of inflation" that harms "mainly the self-employed, small businesses and the final consumer."

Since the beginning of this energy crisis, automatic service stations have seen their demand increase by 20%, but because their partners "have absorbed part of that increase by selling the final product without a profit margin".

The protests, called by the Platform for the Defense of the Merchandise Transport Sector, began at the beginning of last week and lasted until this week.

Behind this lockout is the current energy crisis, which has triggered the price of fuel, but also the Royal Decree-law of March 1, which at the time

stopped a threat of a stoppage before Christmas

, but it does not finish convincing to the sector.

The regulations include the prohibition that carriers carry out work in the loading and unloading centers, something that the Platform rejects and the unions support.

These, in any case, are not happy with the law either, because they believe that it does not solve the problems that transport has been dragging for years.

The Government will meet today with the merchandise department of the National Committee for Road Transport (CNTC), to which the conveners of these mobilizations do not belong.

Aesae has asked the parties involved "an immediate solution to the conflict", which, they regret, harms the citizen more "every day that passes".

They have also requested that minimum supply services be guaranteed in "key infrastructures" such as their gas stations and ask the Government to advance measures to lower the price of fuel, "since waiting until the end of the month can have devastating consequences for the Spanish population.

Several countries have already taken steps in this direction, but the Executive, for now, is waiting for Europe - which would have to give its approval to a drop in VAT on fuels - to present its package of tools.
