According to the Brandenburg state government, Tesla's electric car factory in Grünheide near Berlin can start as planned on Tuesday.

"Currently, we have no knowledge that would stand in the way of commissioning," said the spokeswoman for the Ministry of the Environment, Frauke Zelt, on Saturday.

The company must implement requirements and conditions in relation to the relevant authorities.

However, the ministry pointed out that not all the requirements had to be met for the commissioning of parts of the system.

Because not all of the approximately 400 requirements and conditions from the permit apply to all parts of the plant.

The state of Brandenburg had approved the factory on March 4 - just over two years after the start of construction.

The car plant is already standing and was built through early approvals.

Environmentalists fear water shortages and negative consequences for the environment.

Many celebrities are expected to officially start Tesla's first electric car factory in Europe on Tuesday: Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) want to be there.

Tesla boss Elon Musk himself wants to give the first cars to customers personally.

Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke, Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach (both SPD) and Environment Minister Axel Vogel (Greens) are expected from Brandenburg.
