Professionals are optimistic: the year 2022 promises to be a good year for weddings.

It must be said that demand is particularly strong after two years of health restrictions which had cooled couples.

To organize the event of your dreams, you have to go about it quickly and possibly be ready to accept some compromises.

A postponement of requests

Ordinarily, more than 200,000 marriages are celebrated each year on the national territory.

But that was without counting on the Covid-19 pandemic, which limited private gatherings for many months.

Between the uncertainties of being able to welcome his family, the restrictions on the number of guests and health concerns, many couples preferred to postpone the big day while waiting for a more favorable context.

While the National Institute of Statistics (Insee) identified 224,000 unions in 2019, it only counted 155,000 in 2020, in the midst of the health crisis, before the situation gradually returned to normal the following year. with some 220,000 marriages celebrated in 2021. But saying "yes" in front of the mayor and honoring the event do not necessarily go hand in hand, as explained by Stéphane Seban, founder and organizer of the Wedding Fair, which was held at the end of January at the Porte de Versailles in Paris, to AFP: “only 30,000 to 40,000 unions were followed by a party in 2020”.

During the week or out of season

Between the couples who postponed the event, those who celebrated

it at least

and now wish to give it a magical character, or even those who have decided to embark on the adventure of marriage, the planning of the professionals is ad loaded.

Of course, it all depends on your region, your requests and the type of service providers you are looking for, but be aware that traffic jams are to be feared on the way to your wedding.

Many town halls, churches and reception halls are indeed taken by storm.

To put a maximum of chances on your side, you have to be ready to break the codes.

In 2019, 60% of marriages took place during the summer period, between June and September, according to INSEE.

Rather than targeting the summer months, synonymous with very high season, why not focus on a less popular time of year?

This is, for example, the opportunity to take advantage of the mild climate of spring and back to school, to prefer the magnificent ocher and red colors of autumn or to wait for the white coat of winter.

Still according to INSEE, while fifty years ago, 68% of marriages took place on Saturdays, the rate reached 82% in 2019. Therefore, it may be wise to deviate from the practice by celebrating D-Day on weekdays.

The availability of institutions and professionals will only be greater, for a much lower price.

And if you are afraid of getting too many rejections from your guests, opt for a Friday by presenting the event as an opportunity to offer everyone a long weekend.

Reduced cost

Getting married outside the summer season, and why not during the week, is of real interest in terms of cost.

Service providers often offer more advantageous offers during calm periods, in order to boost their turnover.

If the wedding dress and the gentleman's suit are in principle not affected, the reception hall, the caterer or the photographer can thus be negotiated at a better price when the D-day is scheduled in March April or from the month of October.

Although the bill varies according to a multitude of criteria, you can easily count on a minimum of 10% savings and even sometimes reach up to 40% off.

Especially since you can easily put providers in competition to make your choice.
