Many factories, mainly in Tohoku, were damaged by the earthquake on the 16th of this month.

Toyota Motor will shut down its plant for up to three days starting next Monday, and the impact on production is likely to continue next week.

Restoration work is underway at manufacturers in Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, which were shaken by the earthquake on the 16th of this month.

However, there are many places where restoration and inspection are taking time, and Toyota Motor will suspend operations at 11 domestic factories for up to 3 days from next Monday, saying that parts procurement will be delayed due to the damage to the business partner. It was revealed on the 18th.

It is said that the production of about 20,000 units will be affected.

In addition, SUBARU will also be shut down next Monday at three factories, including the main factory in Gunma prefecture, due to the damage to the factory with which it deals.

Auto parts makers say Hitachi Astemo has shut down six plants in Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures after the earthquake and is expected to resume operations next week.

On the other hand, Renesas Electronics, a major semiconductor maker whose three factories were damaged, said that it plans to produce at the same level as before the earthquake by the 23rd of this month, saying that no major damage to the equipment has been confirmed.

Restoration is gradually progressing, and there are some places where it is expected to resume, but the impact on production activities is likely to continue for a while.
