The

Government of the United Kingdom

announced on Tuesday a

new battery of sanctions against Russia

, including the

prohibition of exporting luxury products to this country , as well as the imposition of an

additional 35% tariff on

imports of hundreds of Russian products .

Likewise, the United Kingdom has decided to

deny

Russia and Belarus

access to the most favored nation status

in terms of tariffs, stripping both countries of the benefits of being part of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Specifically, London has set an

additional tariff of 35%

on a series of Russian products, including

vodka

, whose imports by the United Kingdom are around 900 million pounds (1,071 million euros).

These include iron, steel, fertilizers, wood, tires, rail containers, cement, copper, aluminum, silver, lead, iron ore, beverages, spirits and vinegar, glass, cereals, oilseeds, paper and cardboard, machinery, works of art, antiques, furs and artificial skins, boats and white fish, according to the government list.

For its part, the export

ban

is likely to affect

luxury vehicles, high-end fashion and works of art.

"The export ban will come into force shortly and will ensure that

oligarchs and other members of the elite

, who have grown rich under President Putin's reign and support his illegal invasion,

are deprived of access to luxury goods,

" he said. pointed out by the British Executive.

Thus,

Boris Johnson

's government is confident that the measures will cause

maximum damage to Putin's war machine

and minimize the impact on UK business as G7 leaders come together to unleash a new wave of economic sanctions against Moscow.

"Our new tariffs

will further insulate the Russian economy

from world trade, ensuring that it does not benefit from the rules-based international system that it does not respect," said UK finance

chief Rishi Sunak.

Last week, the UK decided to

freeze assets

and introduce

travel restrictions

for seven top oligarchs, including

Roman Abramovich

, as well as 386 members of the Russian Duma.
