Zhongxin Finance, March 15th. Recently, the emergency landing of a flight of Jiuyuan Airlines has attracted attention. What kind of measure is the "alternation" in this incident, which is similar to the "forced landing" that people often say. What's the difference?

In this regard, Wu Shijie, deputy director of the Aviation Safety Office of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said on the 15th that an alternate landing refers to the situation in which the aircraft takes off, and the destination airport does not have landing conditions or the flight itself is diverted to another airport.

Flight diversions are common at home and abroad for a variety of reasons, including mechanical failures, sudden illnesses of passengers, and temporary airport closures.

Airlines and airports have plans for alternate flights.

Airlines must choose a suitable alternate airport before performing a flight. Once an abnormal situation occurs, the alternate landing can be implemented according to the plan.

Therefore, alternate landing is an active measure for the safe operation of the flight, which is usually not an emergency, and the safety is completely guaranteed.

Only in rare cases, such as relatively serious mechanical failure, serious illegal interference, aircraft fire and other similar dangers, the crew needs to declare a state of emergency, and relevant parties will take corresponding response measures according to procedures, but the overall risk is still controllable.

This is the case when Jiuyuan Airlines diverted to Changsha Airport on March 1.

Forced landing refers to the situation in which the flight crew is extremely difficult to operate due to the failure of all engines, some or all of the landing gear cannot be lowered, and the serious control system is blocked. A high-level emergency response needs to be initiated on the ground.

For example, in 2009, the captain of US Airways "Sally" successfully made a forced landing on the Hudson River due to the failure of both engines.

Wu Shijie said that although the difference between forced landing and alternate landing is only one word, the degree of danger faced by the two is very different.

Alternate landing is a backup operation plan within a controllable range, while forced landing is a helpless move in an emergency.
