Crowned World Rally Champion in 1995 in a Subaru Impreza, Colin McRae changed teams in 1999 to join Ford.
In 2001, he just missed out on his second title at the wheel of the Focus WRC.
It is precisely this car that was put up for auction by Silverstone Auctions.
Destroyed during the Great Britain rally, it was then rebuilt by its tuner, M-Sport, before taking part in a few events.
It has since been fully restored and returned to its original livery, that of McRae.
His prestigious pedigree clearly motivated the prospective buyers, who fought hard until a spectacular final bid of 423,300 pounds, or approximately €510,000!
