In the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the surge in international oil prices, the average price of gasoline at gas stations in Seoul has exceeded 2,000 won per liter.

Korea National Oil Corporation oil price information service Opinet announced that the average price of gasoline at gas stations nationwide as of yesterday was 1,938.8 won per liter and 2,20.2 won in Seoul.

The price of gasoline in Seoul, which fell below 1,700 won at the beginning of this year due to the government's fuel tax cut, is rising rapidly, surpassing 1,900 won on the 8th and 2,000 won yesterday.

It is the first time in eight years and five months since the third week of October 2013 that the national gasoline price exceeded 1,900 won per liter.

The price of Dubai oil, which is the standard for domestic imported crude oil, rose 16.6 dollars in a week to 122.8 dollars per barrel this week.

The government, which has extended the 20% reduction in fuel tax until the end of July, is also considering expanding the rate of reduction in fuel tax according to oil price trends.
