The price of energy in the wholesale market pulverized its record again this Tuesday and will go to

544.98 euros/MWh

, one day after having broken the previous historical mark on Monday with an average of 442.54 euros per megawatt hour and peaks that reached 500 euros/mWh.

Throughout Tuesday there will be a section in which it will reach 700 and several that far exceed 600.

The previous rise represents an increase of more than 23% compared to the value set for Monday (which, in turn, was 17% higher than the value of Sunday) and sets the bar in an environment, that of 500 euros , which seemed unattainable even when the price of electricity skyrocketed at the beginning of the energy crisis.

In fact, it means passing 400 just one day after setting this bar.

Then, continuously overcoming the 100 euro barrier prompted a package of measures by the Government, announced in September, aimed at curbing the impact of these prices on citizens' pockets.

The Executive, with an intervention by Pedro Sánchez on TVE at the head, was in charge of recalling that its actions could not directly affect the wholesale market and that record figures would continue to be reached, as it was: only in the month of November (193.43 euros ) stayed below

200 euros on average

.

50 cents per washing machine

In this context, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and the sanctions adopted almost globally, in addition to the consequences of the war itself, have fired energy again.

In the case of electricity, it is largely due to the high value reached by gas.

Thus, Spanish households covered by the regulated tariff or PVPC - some 10 million people or a third of all customers - will notice the upward trend and will have to choose the moment in which they decide to use the appliances they consume the most, since the difference between the cheapest section (between 11:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. tonight, 0.37902 euros/kWh) and the most expensive (the three hours in which a kilowatt hour costs 0.5 euros) is considerable.

At these three times (between 08:00 and 09:00, 09:00 and 10:00, and 20:00 and 21:00), a long 60-degree program for a washing machine, which has an approximate energy cost of 1,077 watts,

would cost approximately 53 cents

.

Doing it in the cheapest period, on the contrary, would cost 39 euro cents.

As the afternoon progresses, the price will increase between 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m., when it will cost 0.41, 0.48, and 0.50 euros, respectively.

Throughout Tuesday, when the price per megawatt hour will go up to

700 euros

in this section, the washing machine would cost approximately 75 cents.

The cheapest program would have to be carried out at 4 in the morning, when the megawatt hour will be at

424.88 euros

and the washing machine in the example, at 45 cents.

The remaining two-thirds of customers have a fixed, more expensive base rate, which is not affected by market fluctuations and will not be directly affected.

In any case, a triggered light affects the inputs and ends up making goods and services more expensive.

In addition, when the fixed price is re-negotiated, the market trend is taken into account, so the base price can be increased.
