About 20 years ago, an embankment was built here to build a city, and then it gradually expanded into the current Shanghai Lingang New Area.

Now, this is not only a "testing ground" for China's investment and trade liberalization and facilitation, but also a unique "international data testing field".

Data is born with the "root"

　　China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Lingang New Area (abbreviation: Shanghai Lingang New Area or Lingang) is located in the area south of Shanghai Dazhi River and south of Pudong Airport.

　　Chen Feifei, deputy director of the Information Promotion Division of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, pointed out in an interview that digital twins are not uncommon. 　　Chen Feifei said that Lingang hopes to build a complete, full-chain data ecology, "such as port entry and exit, if the application scenario test is carried out in other places, it may only be done on the 'screen', but in Lingang, it can be done into a full-chain, full-ecological scene.”

Chen Feifei revealed that this is just a driverless road. In the future, Shanghai will conduct a pilot test in Lingang, in order to open up a series of operating environments such as unloading, transportation, and customs clearance.

　　Shanghai Lingang New Area will start the construction of an "International Innovation Collaboration Zone" in early November 2021, focusing on the development of cutting-edge technology industries such as integrated circuits, life sciences, artificial intelligence, digital economy, and blue economy.

Its planned area is about 7 square kilometers, and it is divided into three sections: Science and Technology Headquarters Bay, Top Scientists Community, and Science and Technology Innovation City Community.

　　According to Wang Liang, a smart city researcher at the Lingang New Area Management Committee of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Shanghai has chosen the "International Innovation Collaboration Zone" to start the construction of the Lingang Digital Twin Demonstration Zone first.
