As more and more households live away from their elderly parents, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has decided to establish a new company that will use digital apps to monitor parents' behavior and check their asset status.

The aim is to embark on new fields and acquire customers.

According to people familiar with the matter, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has decided to establish a subsidiary next month to provide services such as watching over parents who live far away.

In the service provided by the new company, you can check the status of deposits and withdrawals from your parent's account through the newly developed smartphone app, as well as confirm your whereabouts using location information, online health consultation, and chat. It means that it is possible to communicate with family members.

The bank plans to utilize about 400 stores nationwide to support the introduction and usage of the app for users, and plans to start providing the service this summer as well.

With the declining birthrate and aging population and the increasing number of nuclear families, there is an increasing need to watch over parents who live far away. I want to connect.
