Traveling nearly 100,000 km/year each, several Volvo XC40 Recharge will be entrusted to a taxi company based in Gothenburg.

In addition to running errands for customers, these will be used to test a new wireless charging system for 3 years.

Developed by the company Momentum Dynamics, it has terminals integrated into the ground that can deliver more than 40 kW, i.e. a speed 4 times greater than that of an 11 kW wired charger.

"The Gothenburg Green City Zone

initiative

allows us to experiment with promising new technologies in the real world, and evaluate them over time for possible widespread deployment in the future," says Mats Moberg, Head of Department Research and Development at Volvo.

“Experimenting with new charging technologies in collaboration with select partners is a good way to assess alternative charging options for our future electric vehicles.
