According to the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE), 10% of customers were still equipped with old-generation meters as of December 31, 2021. While 90% of Enedis' meter fleet has the Linky connected box, some therefore still refuse its installation, reports Capital on Thursday.
In this context, CRE conducted a public consultation until January 5, 2022 to "define the new incentive regulation framework"
.
Indeed, the commission estimates that the non-communication of the consumption index to Enedis during the last twelve months will generate an additional cost due to the intervention of the manager, then forced to read the meters himself.
8.30 euros every two months
Consequently, CRE considers that customers opposing the installation of a Linky meter will have to bear this additional cost of 8.30 euros every two months, from 1 January 2023. According to our colleagues, this billing could evolve after 2025 for customers who are not yet equipped with the small green box.
According to an estimate by the CRE, there are currently 3.8 million French people in this case.
As a reminder, the deployment of the Linky meter represents a cost of 4 billion euros for the EDF subsidiary.
