Equipped with a 680 hp hybrid engine, the Peugeot 9X8 was created with the aim of racing in the new Hypercar category of the WEC World Endurance Championship.
It joins other manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, Alpine, Audi and Cadillac, who have decided to throw themselves into the fight as well.
But now, a few months before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the event of this championship best known to the general public, Peugeot has just announced its decision not to participate in the race to concentrate on the development of its new car, which will eventually debut in the summer.
This decision is certainly motivated by the fact that after its first race, a manufacturer cannot further develop its racing car until 2025. In the meantime, the Le Mans event has lost one of its most serious competitors, and it will take wait until 2023 to witness a battle on the circuits between all these brands.
