In response to soaring prices of raw materials such as wheat flour and cooking oil, food manufacturers are moving to raise the price of instant noodles one after another.

Regarding grain prices, there is a possibility that Russia's invasion of Ukraine, an agricultural powerhouse, will raise prices further, and there are concerns that it may lead to further price increases for familiar foods.

Among food manufacturers, ▽ Toyo Suisan will raise the price of "Maru-chan" brand instant noodles, about 220 items, from the shipment in June.

Of these, those with a suggested retail price will be raised by 9% to 12%.

In addition to soaring prices of raw materials such as flour and cooking oil, logistics costs and fuel prices are also rising, so it is said that it is no longer possible to absorb the increase in costs by the company's own corporate efforts.

In addition, ▽ Sanyo Foods will raise the price of 47 items of instant noodles such as "Sapporo Ichiban" of bag noodles, those with a suggested retail price will be raised by about 10% to 12%, and ▽ Meisei Foods will raise about "Charmera" etc. We will raise the price of 90 items such as instant noodles by 6% to 12% for those with a suggested retail price.

All of these have been shipped since June, and the price increases for each company will be the first in three years since 2019.

Furthermore, Nissin Foods Co., Ltd., the largest company, has announced price increases for about 180 items such as "Cup Noodles" from the shipment in June, and the price of instant noodles is increasing one after another.

Global grain prices are rising due to a shortage of containers in the corona and bad weather in major production areas, but as Russia invades the agricultural powerhouse Ukraine and the situation becomes tense, agricultural production will be affected. If this happens, global grain prices may rise further, and there are concerns that this may lead to further price increases for familiar foods.
