He pointed out in statements to "Emirates Today" that "American food exports recorded a growth of 20% during the past year, compared to the past five years, which witnessed export rates for each of one billion dollars each year, which means recording strong growth rates that exceeded the levels of before the pandemic.
And Whitley explained, "The reasons for the significant increase in exports are due to the resumption of flights between the Emirates and various American destinations, the rise in tourist groups, the activity of the hospitality sector in the Emirates, and the positive effects of the (Expo 2020 Dubai) exhibition, which was also reflected in the emergence of many new hotels and restaurants. In the UAE market, which depends on different components of American food in its meals.”
He added that "American almonds accounted for the largest shares of the total US food exports to the UAE market during the past year, as the value of US almond exports to the UAE amounted to 220 million dollars (807 million dirhams)."
He explained, "It is expected that the UAE-US trade relations will grow at great rates during the coming period," noting that in light of the strong demand for American food exports in the UAE markets, the value of these exports is expected to record positive rates similar to those recorded during the current year. during the past.
Wheatley added, "The commercial relations between the UAE and America are strong and distinguished, and American products are among the largest exports in the UAE food markets."
He said that "there is a strong interest from American companies producing and supplying food and beverages, in increasing their business in the UAE markets, and expanding through those markets to various countries in the region," pointing to "the significant increases recorded by food companies during the activities of the Gulfood 2022 exhibition, which concluded Its recent work in Dubai witnessed the participation of 111 American food and beverage companies, compared to 45 companies during the previous session of the exhibition.
He added that "Expo 2020", organized by Dubai in an impressive manner, will constitute many growth opportunities to support trade and tourism relations between the two countries in the coming periods, pointing out that "the momentum witnessed by the hospitality sector in the UAE during the current period, enhances the chances of a rise in US exports of food and beverage products to the UAE market, with significant growth in demand for these products.”
He pointed out that "the UAE markets constitute a strong market for US food exports in various sectors, especially dairy products, meat, grains and candy products, in addition to the fact that many companies specialized in the food industry in the UAE use many technical solutions from American companies in the development and production of food." .
