President Raïsi denounced the expansion of NATO towards the East which, according to him, is a source of tension and threatens the stability and security of independent countries.

He went even further by adding that he hopes that what is happening on the ground will serve the interests of the peoples and the region.

No question of condemning Moscow

Tehran's position is not a surprise.

No question of condemning Moscow's decision.

Indeed, Iran is also affected by heavy American sanctions.

Above all, the Iranian power is getting closer and closer to Russia and China to counterbalance Western pressures.

President Raisi traveled to Moscow a month ago to meet Russian President Putin.

The two countries are preparing a 20-year cooperation agreement.

Tehran and Moscow are already cooperating in the military and nuclear field, but also in the economy.

Accelerated rapprochement in sight with the Russians

Tehran has also signed a 25-year strategic cooperation agreement with China.

The sanctions of Western countries against Russia could push Iran to accelerate its rapprochement with Moscow and Beijing.
